Centre for Water and Environment Development (CWED), founded in 1998, is a leading non-governmental organization headquartered in Kaduna State, Nigeria. Our mission is to advance sustainable water and environmental resource development. Registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in 2008, CWED is committed to improving human livelihoods and promoting sustainable development through innovative projects and research.
CWED was established with the conviction that the environment and water resources are crucial to human livelihood and sustainable development. The environment and water resources have a dual relationship: terrestrial and aquatic life require good quality water in sufficient quantities for survival and productivity, while the environment provides services that maintain water resources in a usable state for all sectors.
However, continuous degradation of the environment and water resources, often associated with human activities and other factors, has led to a decline in living standards, particularly in the developing world
